Blue Water, Brown Water:
Stories of Life in the Navy and in Vietnam
Part Two
This is Part Two of a three-part memoir following the life of one Baby Boomer. Picking up the story from Part One, it describes the turbulent period from 1968 to 1971, combining hundreds of stories and memories into a narrative about a young man who begins his journey at the draft board in Houston, and ends it on his last day of active duty in Seattle, and all that happened in between. It captures the mood of the young people of the day, while following the maturation of a green Naval officer into a confident Vietnam veteran. Essentially a view of daily life in the Navy of 50 years ago, it is abundant in characters, places and events that challenge the imagination.
Truth is, after all, stranger than fiction.
